Accessibility

This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at level AA.

What has been done

  • Text and interface colors are tested for contrast against the specific background they appear on, targeting at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface elements.
  • Body text is set at 18px with a generous line height, and every size scales with your browser or system text-size setting.
  • Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and shows a visible focus outline when you do.
  • Buttons and navigation links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
  • The frequently asked questions use native disclosure elements, so they work with a keyboard, with assistive technology, and with browser find-in-page.
  • Animation is limited to short fades and small movements, and is switched off entirely when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers rather than described pointlessly.
  • Status and meaning are never carried by color alone.
  • A skip link is the first thing in the tab order on every page.

Known limitations

The embedded map
If you choose to load the map, it comes from Google and its accessibility is outside the practice’s control. Every page that offers a map also gives the full address as text and a directions link.
Formal audit
The site has been built and checked against WCAG 2.1 AA, but it has not been through an independent third-party audit or user testing with assistive technology.
